Defend our rural heritage and planet Earth.
Today, our environment, our landscape, our rural heritage and the quality of our lives are all under threat. France’s rural communities and farmlands are being criss-crossed by professional salesmen trained to sell industrial-scale photovoltaic or wind farms. They are looking for farmers and landowners, in return for a tempting rent of course, and local councils willing to accept large industrial developments on their rural, uncultivated and wild land, all in the name of the « energy transition». With a percentage of the taxes to help «lubricate» the local authorities.
The vast majority of these projects will benefit private companies and a few landowners who care little for the impact on their neighbours, local inhabitants, tourism, the countryside, the environment and our dangerously threatened biodiversity. They are all motivated by the money. They will not be affected by the installations when they wake up every morning – some of which are up to 8m10 high above ground level – because most of them don’t live there.
Worse still, these projects will not tackle the most urgent problem – reducing greenhouse gases and pollution. In fact, without priority given to french or European made equipment, in the short to medium term they will only make the situation worse, by creating more CO2, together with an overproduction of intermittent* electricity – to enrich the few. This will not help the rural communities that need it most.
* Needs sunshine or wind for any production!
